Sam Kendall-Marsden is the Director of Claims of The Standard Club, a leading mutual marine insurer headquartered in London with offices worldwide, including in New York, Piraeus, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Sam practiced as a solicitor in England and Australia for over ten years before joining the club in 2008. Sam’s role at the club includes managing the claims function, supervising the handling of defence claims, formulating and promoting the club’s stance on industry issues, representing the club in industry forums and responsibility for the club’s rules. Sam represents the club on the International Group’s Salvage, Maritime Security, Federal Maritime Commission, Pool Claim Notifications, P&I Qualification and Amicus Briefs subcommittees, and Large Casualty and Piracy working groups.
Sam specialises in major casualty claims handling and has been responsible for The Standard Club’s responses to the MSC Chitra, MV Rena and, most recently, Costa Concordia and Amadeo 1 casualties, and supports colleagues in handling other large, complex casualty claims.
