ITS Manager (Intelligent Transportation Systems Manager) at Modern Bus Company – Makkah Bus Project

Kenan Kilavuz was born in 1986, in Istanbul/Turkey. He graduated from Yildiz Technical University Electrical Engineering in 2008. He completed his M.Sc. degree at the Energy Institute of Istanbul Technical University in 2011.

He started his professional career in IMM (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality) as an Engineer in Feb 2009, and in sequence, he became the Manager of the Energy and Environment Department at IETT (which is the Public Transport Authority of Istanbul City) in March 2012, and became the Manager of ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Department in March 2013. He was leading all ITS operations in Istanbul for 3 years (6000 buses, 729 bus routes, and 12000 bus stops) and was a part of the team studying for the Istanbul Card payment infra.

He became the Manager of the Tunnel-Tramway Operation & Maintenance Department at IETT in June 2016, but he preferred to continue his career in the private sector. He started as General Manager at Science Energy Co. in the same year. He was also teaching as Visiting Scholar at some of the Turkish universities in the field of smart cities, and satellite communication systems in parallel.

He has been working for Makkah Bus Project as ITS Manager since December 2017 at Modern Bus Company (under Nesma Group). He is married and the father of two kids. He is fluent in English, a beginner in French, and a native in Turkish.
