As CHRO, Peter is an integral part of the Port of Cork senior management team, as well as the development of the Cork Container Terminal, Europe’s newest smart port and state-of-the-art purpose built 13.5 hectare development. Prior to joining the Port of Cork Peter was the Director, Southern region for Ibec Ireland’s largest and most influential business membership organization and the third largest lobbying group in Europe. Peter gained his first front line management position in 1992 in London, UK and quickly progressed in a variety of roles within Transport for London (TfL) where he worked on the Jubilee Line Extension Project (JLEP) as part of the project team which at the time was Europe’s largest engineering project. Peter returned to Ireland in 1999 to take up the UK & Ireland people leadership role for Ireland’s largest indigenous manufacturing Company.
Peter holds a MA in Human Resource Development from the University of Westminster, London, is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, and a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Training and Development. Peter is a visiting lecturer in strategic management and human resource development at University College Cork (UCC), a world-class research-led University.
