Sergio Alda at European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA)
Sergio Alda works as a Senior Project Officer in the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). He has been in EMSA for the last ten years working in Port State Control and on Marine Environmental topics. He currently focuses on air emissions from ships, particularly SOx, where he is responsible for the Sulphur Directive. Before joining EMSA, Sergio worked in the Spanish Maritime Administration holding various positions and prior to that in the shipbuilding industry. He has been Maritime Consultant for the International Maritime Organization. Sergio graduated from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid as a Naval Architect/Marine Engineer and holds a MSc. (Hons.) in International Transportation Management from the SUNY Maritime College of New York.
