Head of State Aid Division at Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Denmark


Preben Sandberg Pettersson is a civil servant in the Danish Governmental Administration advising on EU law and Economics - The EU State Aid rules and procedures. In addition he is engaged as Counsellor in the Council of Furesø Municipality, as Deputy Lord Mayer and member of the Committee for Business and Employment, the Committee for Town Planning and Housing, the Committee for Innovation and Digitization and Vice Chairman of the Committee of Economics and Budgeting.

He has been posted to Bruxelles for 7½ year as counselor at the Danish Permanent representation to the EU and engaged in conducting two Danish EU Presidencies (1993 and 2002) as President of the Council working parties for Industry, the Single Market, Shipbuilding, Steel, Competition Law / Antitrust, State Aid, Technical Harmonization (EC-marking, Information procedures) and Commercial Questions. He has been coordinating Danish State Aid activities and conferences during the Danish EU Presidency in 2012.

Preben has been in charge of the Danish negotiation team of the EU state aid modernization programme pending in 2012 until 2014. Today he is head of the State aid division of the Danish Ministry for industry, Business and financial affairs and President of the State Aid advisory committee of the Danish Government, and advising the Danish Central administration on state aid. From 2019 he has been part of the Co-presidency of the EU State Aid Modernization group. Since 9 March 2020 his task has been to ensure state aid conformity and compliance of the Danish Economic support packages in order to compensate for the market loss during the COVID 19 crisis and the measures to prevent dispersion of the virus.
