Mark Wilton is a senior member of Barings’ Global Private Finance Group and a member of the European Private Finance Investment Committee. He is responsible for managing the team originating, executing and monitoring European private finance investments. Mark was a founder member of the Barings mid-market direct lending business in 2005 and is a Portfolio Manager for Barings’ European Private Loan Funds and separate managed accounts.
Barings European Private Finance team is a well-established and long term player in the European mid-market having completed over 235 transactions since 2005. With a AUM of c.€5bn, Barings are a conservative and disciplined senior debt investor focused on running diverse vehicles that generate a consistent risk adjusted return through the cycle.
From the United Kingdom, Mark has 24 years of industry experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2005, Mark was with the Royal Bank of Scotland ("RBS") where he worked in the mid-market leverage finance business. Prior to RBS, Mark was a Corporate Finance Adviser for Catalyst Corporate Finance, an independent boutique, and PricewaterhouseCoopers ("PwC"). Mark qualified as an ACA in 1996 at PwC and holds a 1st class B.Sc. (Honours) degree in Management Sciences from Loughborough University.
