Jarl Heijstee

Co-founder and Managing Partner at XSML

Jarl has over 20 years of experience in selecting, setting up, and managing investments funds in emerging markets. Jarl is managing partner at XSML Capital, an private equity fund manager focused on Central & East Africa. Prior to founding XSML, Jarl worked for FMO, the Dutch Development Bank. Jarl has structured private equity and mezzanine transactions in Africa and Latin America, with a particular focus on the SME and microfinance sectors. At ABN Amro, as portfolio manager for the Global Emerging Market Equity Fund, he was instrumental in bringing the fund into the top quartile. Jarl holds an MA in Business Administration from Groningen University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Jarl is based in Kampala, Uganda.
