John Humphrey is His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for Africa as of June 2022.

As the UK Trade Commissioner for Africa of the UK’s Department for International Trade Africa, John oversees DIT Africa’s integral contribution in addition to other parts of the UK Government i.e. the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and British International Investment to Africa.

Prior to joining DIT, John was the Group Chief Executive Officer of Kent HoldCo Limited (KHL). Between 2012 – 2019 he was with the UK Hydrographic Office (an MOD Trading Fund) as Chief Executive & Accounting Officer, from 2015, and previously as Chief Commercial Officer & Deputy Chief Executive and Interim Chief Commercial Officer. Earlier in his career, John worked in the technology sector in a variety of commercial, general management and executive roles in the UK and overseas.

He is also a Lay Trustee of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy and a Younger Brother of Trinity House.
