Julia is the Co-Founder & Managing Partner of the Future of Learning Fund, an early-stage investment fund to invest in new and improved models of learning that deliver education at scale and prepare Africans for the future of work. The Fund is a thematic fund of Future Africa which is building an African future where prosperity and purpose are within everyone’s reach. We aim to be a primary source of Capital, Coaching, and Community for founders turning Africa’s education and employment challenges into global business opportunities.
The Nairobi and Lagos-based Fund invests in Africa’s largest markets across the entire learner lifecycle with a focus on learning for the skills-based economy and global distributed workforce. Focus areas include: Improved and Accelerated Learning in K-12; Learn-to-Earn and Alternative Pathways to Employment; Digital Transformation of Higher Ed; Employer-Driver Talent Development; and Innovative Technology and Education Finance. Early investments include Nexford University, Craydel, Akili Network and Reflective Learning.
Julia brings over 20 years of strategy, innovation and investment experience in the public and private sectors in the US, UK and Africa to this work that include: The White House and National Security Council; NBC News/Universal; BBC World Service Trust; and Equity Bank Group. She is a Board Member of Nexford University, Advisory Board Member of Roadtrip Nation and Akili Network, and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Education Design Lab which designs education for the future of work. She is also a GSV Cup Judge, WISE Accelerator Mentor and Future of Work Africa and Job Tech Alliance Task Force Member.
