Andrew NewingtonChief Investment Officer at Actis
Andrew joined Actis in 2015 and sits on the firm’s Executive Committee, as well as serving on or chairing all of our investment committees and leading the Actis Macro Forum, a team of professionals from across our asset classes and markets responsible for the assessment of macro economic and political risks across our portfolio. Andrew also leads many of our strategic initiatives, including our recent acquisition of the Asian Real Estate business from Standard Chartered and the ongoing transaction to assume the management of certain of the Abraaj funds. He has over 20 years of experience in the private equity industry.
Prior to Actis, Andrew spent 13 years at BC Partners where he was a Managing Partner and co-head of the London office. Prior to BC Partners, Andrew was with BT Capital Partners, the private equity division of Bankers Trust. He started his career as a lawyer with Ashurst in 1992, specialising in cross border transactions across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Andrew has an LLB from the University of Exeter and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
