Maarten runs the Africa Conservation & Communities Tourism Fund, an impact focused debt fund which aims to preserve livelihoods, protect conservation areas and increase biodiversity and climate resilience through the support of key safari tourism operators in sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining ThirdWay Partners Maarten spent the first 6 years of his career in ABN AMRO's IB teams in London & Hong Kong, predominantly focussed on cross-border M&A. Driven by his strong passion for wildlife conservation he subsequently moved to East Africa where he led corporate finance for Asilia Africa, one of the leading safari operators in the region. Since then he held a number of senior positions in young and growing organisations, such as COO of Quest, a placement agent for European PE funds. He is a Non-Executive Director, board member and advisor to a number of African tech start-ups, all of which have a strong positive impact agenda. Maarten has an MSc from London School of Economics and a BSc from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
