Romero Rodrigues is Managing Director of Redpoint eventures, the first Sillicon Valley VC firm to be established in Brazil in 2012. Redpoint eventures has $130 million of assets under management, 30 investments in Latin America, and is co-founder Cubo with Itaú Unibanco.
Romero is also Co-Founder of Buscapé Company, a comparison shopping service launched in 1999. As CEO, Romero led 20 acquisitions (from payments to classifieds) and helped the company to raise 4 rounds of investment. In 2009, Naspers, a South African group, acquired 91% of Buscapé in a valuation of $374 Million. Buscapé became the largest Internet exit in Brazil at the time and the first staged financed start-up to provide exit to investors.
In Nov/2013, Rodrigues became CEO of Comparison Shopping at Naspers, managing businesses in 3 continents and 18 countries.
Rodrigues also dedicates time to Endeavor, a NGO that supports entrepreneurship where he acts as a donor, mentor and served as board member from 2012 to 2018.
Rodrigues is a board member of Wayfair (NYSE:W), Ascenty, Viajanet, Pismo and Olist.
As an active angel investor, Romero invested in 25 startups in Brazil, United States, UK and South Africa.
Romero Rodrigues has a BSc in Electrical Engineering at Escola Politecnica of University of São Paulo and GSB SEP at Stanford University.
