Karl Smith

Managing Director at Macquarie Group

Karl is a Managing Director in Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets. He is an investment committee member and leads investments in the energy transition sector, including investments from the dedicated renewable fund series. Prior to this, Karl joined the Green Investment Bank in 2012 where he led the fund management business, having formerly spent three years advising on and developing energy and infrastructure transactions with Hideal Partners. Earlier, Karl spent four years with Babcock and Brown in principal equity investment, and also held a similar positions with ABN Amro and Macquarie Group. Karl has extensive experience in principal equity investment, debt investments and financial advisory across the energy transition and infrastructure sectors.

Karl graduated with a Bachelor in Commerce with Honours in Finance from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
