Peter Plaut is consistently recognised as a leader in the industry. Among his many achievements and awards, he was ranked as one of the Top 20 Rising Stars of Hedge Funds during the 2008 global financial crisis. More recently, since the Covid-19 Pandemic locked down the global economy, Plaut has signed over $5 billion of Engagements and/or Term Sheets across various real estate assets classes including residential, mixed use, office, and hospitality. This is a recognition of his ability to manage through crisis and create positive investment opportunities in all environments. Plaut is a weekly featured speaker on Venture Capital Television (LATOKEN VCTV) with a particular focus on family office investments in real estate, emerging technologies including AI, Blockchain, GreenTech, CleanTech, and the Digital Economy. Mr. Plaut is also an advocate for ESG, Impact Investing, and Business Diversity and Inclusion.
Currently, Plaut serves as an Executive Director of Wimmer Family Office and Wimmer Financial in London and separately has an advisory firm AEDS Advisors which has a JV with one of the largest Private Equity and Credit Opportunities funds. Plaut also serves as the Vice Chairman of the GRI Global Committee on Hospitality and the Vice Chairman of the GRI Global Committee on Future Finance and Investing. In early 2020, his team at Wimmer Financial was awarded Real Estate Investment Bank of The Year ahead of BNP, Credit Suisse and UBS.
Plaut’s has over three decades of experience on the sell-side and buy-side as a banker, portfolio manager, salesman and analyst. Mr. Plaut operates globally sourcing, researching, negotiating and structuring capital markets transactions. He has been a lead banker on many successful capital raises, transactions, and consultative assignments with senior management teams and Boards of Directors. Plaut has senior level relationships with some of the largest hedge funds, private equity funds, family offices, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and banks in the US, Canada and Europe.
During the late 1990s, while employed at Salomon Brothers, Plaut served as Rating Advisor to the Republic of Korea and as a result of his work was extended an invitation for Term Membership to the Council on Foreign Relations. He has been recognised by Institutional Investor, Euromoney and Alternative Investor, and been frequently quoted by international media.
Plaut holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management information systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. An active philanthropist, Plaut is active in many charitable organisations.
