Karl leads the Delivering Deal Value Middle East practice focused on pre-deal due diligence and post deal value creation activities for private equity, corporate, family offices and Sovereign Investment Funds.
Prior to joining PwC ME, Karl spent 8 years during the financial crisis in Europe turning around underperforming businesses owned by private equity houses and banks. He has led turnaround projects in the region, one including an automotive retail sales business.
Karl has a total of 26 years of business experience and the last 15 all deals related. Karl focuses on delivering value through operational change to ensure maximum shareholder returns.
Karl has recently led an operational due diligence on a leading car rental company in the MENA region: assessment of current operations, risks and upside and development of a business improvement plan.
Karl’s prior roles include Chief Operating Officer and Chief Restructuring Officer (Executive Board positions) for the two largest European frozen food companies (Iglo & Findus) which involved multimillion dollar operational and financial restructuring .
He was a Senior Operating Partner for a number of private equity firms focused improving portfolio companies’ performance prior to exiting.
A former operations manager (McBrides plc, Europe largest private label FMCG), a Director for Dow Chemicals and Union Carbide Corporation his roles involved significant operational restructuring to improve financial performance. His early career was in Oil and Gas sector (refinery and power station).
Sector focus includes industrial manufacturing, distribution, FMCG, food, chemicals, construction and distribution.
