Dr. Philip Kamau has over 34 years Senior Management experience in accounting, finance, audit, consulting, treasury, private equity, banking and professional services acquired from working with Deloitte & Touche, Nairobi, PricewaterhouseCoopers, London, African Development Bank, Abidjan and African Export-Import Bank, Cairo. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA), a Subsidiary of African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank). He led the team which established FEDA. He was previously the Senior Director of Finance of Afreximbank and a member of the Senior Management Executive Team. He is a founder staff member of Afreximbank and established Finance, Internal Audit, Information Communications and Technology and Treasury Departments in the Bank. He was also a member of the Credit Committee approving transactions financed by the Bank as well and chaired the Liquidity Management Working Group. He has been in charge of raising over USD 8bn over the years for the Bank from debt capital markets. He holds BCom (First Class Honours) from University of Nairobi, Kenya, MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School, UK, MPhil and DBA degrees from Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands. He won the 2014 Elisabeth Strouven prize and medal for best researcher and for outstanding performance up to and including the Doctorate of Business Administration program at Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands. He has published peer reviewed ground breaking research articles in the impact and management of currency risk in multilateral banks. He has developed course materials in Financial Reporting and Analysis and taught students in Masters in Finance and Responsible Banking program organized by IEB, Madrid, World Savings Banks Institute (WSBI) and the London School of Economics (LSE). He is a Certified Public Accountant, Kenya and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and of London Institute of Banking and Finance, and a member of UK Association of Corporate Treasurers.
