Edmund has a strong private markets investment track record with a life-time IRR of 29% p.a. across a 30 year career as CEO/Exec Chairman.
In 1998 he led the MBO of Hambro European Ventures to form, Duke Street Capital - a Top Ten European PE firm with 31% realised IRR from inception to sale in 2006. He started Duke Street’s debt management operation with Europe’s first €1 bn leveraged loan CLO launched in 2001. Edi sold his interests in Duke Street in March 2007, in anticipation of the financial crisis; and founded Pension Insurance Corporation. As CEO he led its development into a market leader; with c.£50bn in assets today. At the end of 2012 he was appointedChairman of London Pension Fund Authority, where his first led the transformation of the LPFA’s portfolio, by allocating 45% to private markets from the proceeds of selling LDI and gilts; and then of the UK public sector funds as a co-architect of the LGPS Superpools .
In 2005, with late brother Danny, Edi co-founded Truell Conservation Foundation “to make money for charity by being good investors” and its investment management arm, Disruptive Capital, maintaining a highly contrarian investment style for the charity and Truell family office
In 2015 Luke Webster and Edmund were invited by UK Government to found Pension SuperFund , aiming to consolidate the UK private sector pension funds across the £2 trillion sector.
In 2014 he won PwC Entrepreneur of the Year. He is a qualified as Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a BSc in Economics & Finance from Durham University.
He founded what is now Global Interconnection Group in 2013, where he is Executive Chairman. Global InterConnection Group (AEX:CABLE) listed in Euronext Amsterdam in July 2023.
