Mortimer Menzel has more than 17 years of expertise in placing equity finance in renewable energy transactions and over 28 years of banking and legal experience. Prior to co-founding Augusta & Co in 2002, Mortimer was in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs and a solicitor with Bruckhaus Westrick in Frankfurt. He trained with Linklaters in London.
At Augusta Mortimer leads the investment management business where the firm creates and manages bespoke investments for large institutional clients. Prior to this, on the advisory side, Mortimer originated and executed some of the leading renewables transactions in the European market including the sale of wind turbine makers, a blade manufacturer, M&A on 17 offshore wind projects and many onshore wind and hydro projects and portfolio as well as developer sales. Mortimer has led transactions for clients such as Deutsche Bank, Unicredit, Goldman Sachs, Dong, RWE, PNE Wind, Impax, Louis Dreyfus, Riverstone. Mortimer is a frequent speaker on investing in renewable energy at various global conferences. Outside renewables Mortimer is a trustee of the Kaiser Wilhelm II Fund, a fund managed for charitable purposes. Mortimer is a qualified solicitor (non-practicing) and holds an LL.B (Hons) from the London School of Economics.
