Maarten Biermans

Head Sustainable Markets at Rabobank

Maarten Biermans is responsible for the sustainable capital market solutions at Rabobank. Before joining Rabobank in 2017 as the head of ESG policy, Maarten worked as a strategy consultant specializing in RI in private equity. Maarten is a member of the UNEP FI Social Issues Advisory Board and the Netherlands Network of the UN Global Compact. He has extensive experience in the conceptual and operational aspects of responsible investment (he is co-author of the official PRI guide on the integration of ESG considerations in private equity), CSR and impact investing. Maarten has a PhD in Economics (where his work was on international labour standards) and a MA in Philosophy both from the University of Amsterdam. He was also a visiting scholar at Stanford University.
