Philip Tsai has advised numerous holders of private equity on their liquidity options, with clients including some of the largest state agencies, endowments and financial institutions. He joined UBS in 2001 to make strategic investments for the firm and, as a member of the Third Party Private Equity Funds Team, he managed a $2 billion portfolio of funds and executed a $1.3 billion joint venture between UBS and HarbourVest Partners called Tresser, L.P. Prior to UBS, Phil made early-stage investments with venture capital firm Telligent Capital. Prior to that, he made private equity investments throughout Asia with Newbridge Capital in Hong Kong. Earlier in his career, he analyzed proposed mergers, divestitures, acquisitions and leveraged buyouts in the Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring Department at Morgan Stanley.
