John Leone
Managing Partner at Fairview Capital Group

John has over 20 years of diverse private equity experience covering developed and emerging markets and working on limited partner matters and private equity investments

John brings an important perspective to Fairview’s clients because he has successfully implemented several GP-led solutions from the perspective of a general partner. Prior to forming Fairview, as a Managing Partner of ForeVest Capital Partners, a PE fund manager, John successfully led and implemented a GP-led restructuring of an emerging market fund from the perspective of the general partner. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing strategy for successful execution of the restructuring and leading communications with the limited partners

In addition, John has led several complex investor related matters in the capacity of the general partner of a fund, including a limited partner-led GP removal effort, a GP-led change of control process during the global financial crisis and the acquisition of a significant limited partner interest of a fund by the fund’s manager. In each of these matters, John worked though myriad issues with a diverse limited partner base with competing interests and was able to drive consensus to achieve the desired outcome

Prior to forming ForeVest, John was a Managing Director of PineBridge Investments, which he joined in 2004. John formerly served as the General Counsel of PineBridge’s Emerging Market Private Equity (ex-Asia) operations

Prior to joining PineBridge, John was an attorney at Kirkland & Ellis LLP from 1998 to 2004 where he advised private equity clients on leveraged buyouts, growth equity and venture capital investments, and fund formations

John earned a Juris Doctor, with High Honors, from The George Washington University Law School where he was a member of the Law Review, and a Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, from the State University of New York at Binghamton
