Natalie Hwang is the Founding Managing Partner of Apeira Capital Advisors LLC (https://www.apeiracapital.com), a creative investment and advisory firm that employs a unique long/short approach to investing in private technology companies that is highly innovative in the venture capital sector.
Prior to Apeira Capital, Ms. Hwang founded and managed all aspects of investments as Managing Director and Head of Simon Ventures, the venture capital subsidiary of global real estate company Simon Property Group. She served on the boards of companies such as Foursquare and FabFitFun, as well as supporting other noteworthy companies including Bird, Bustle Digital Group, Grailed, Verishop, MeUndies and Brud. Previously, Ms. Hwang served as a senior executive at The Blackstone Group, where she gained highly focused experience in seeding and scaling disruptive hedge fund startups. As one of a select few female executives to lead a fund with a broad background of experience that spans public to private markets, she brings a differentiated perspective to venture capital investing.
Ms. Hwang began her career as a corporate attorney at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett LLP. Ms. Hwang earned her BA in public policy and economics from Duke University and her JD degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. She has been named to the Power List 100 of the most influential investors by Global Corporate Venturing for three consecutive years (2017-2019) and to the Rising Stars List 100 of the most promising investors by Global Corporate Venturing in 2016 for her impact in shaping the future of corporate venture capital.
