Shyam Menon is the co-founder of the Bharat Funds Platform, an early stage innovation focused venture capital fund platform from India, launched in 2012 with three funds presently active in the deeptech, inclusive fintech and climate tech space. He started in venture capital in 2007 as an investment manager at Conduit Ventures, a cleantech venture capital fund based in London backed by Shell, Mitsubishi, Goldman Sachs etc.. investing across Europe followed by a brief stint at Nadathur Holdings, an investment office in Singapore focused on South and South East Asia before before launching Infuse Ventures, India’s first early stage climate -tech venture capital fund in 2012 followed by Bharat Innovation Fund, a Series A deeptech focused fund and Bharat Inclusive Technology Fund focused on fintech in 2018.
Shyam was with the clean energy/transportation investment teams at the World Bank HQ in Washington DC and a member of the China Energy group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) working on low carbon transition pathways for the power and transportation sectors in India and China between 2004 and 2007.
His operational experience includes research engineering roles at Acumentrics Corporation in Boston, Massachusetts and Fuel Cell Energy Corp in Danbury, Connecticut, two high temperature fuel cell companies between 2001 and 2004.
