Telco Talks: API Insights with Markus Kümmerle

Markus Kümmerle, responsible for Engineering and Production within the Magenta API Capabilities Exposure organization at Deutsche Telekom, brings decades of experience in program management, service delivery, and quality assurance across the telecommunications and automotive industries. Since joining debis Systemhaus, a Daimler subsidiary later integrated into Deutsche Telekom Group, in 1995, Markus has held key roles such as Executive Program Manager and Customer Service Delivery Manager, working with leading automotive clients including Airbus, Audi, BMW, Boeing, Mercedes, and VW. From 2014 to 2020, he oversaw project and service quality for the System Integration unit, later known as the Digital Solutions unit of T-Systems, before taking leadership of the Magenta API Capabilities Exposure Program in 2020, which transitioned into a line organization in 2024. A driving force behind Deutsche Telekom’s API innovation, Markus spearheaded the initiation of CAMARA in 2021, launched at MWC2022, and continues to lead its activities while representing Deutsche Telekom in GSMA Open Gateway, advancing global API standardization and interoperability in telecommunications.
