Eric Hesse, MD, PhDChief Medical Officer at Sirana Pharma GmbH
Eric Hesse studied Medicine at Hannover Medical School in Germany where he became MD in 2003. In addition, he graduated as PhD in 2007 in Genetics & Cell Biology in Hannover, Germany and is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. In 2005, he moved as a Postdoctoral Fellow funded by the German Research Foundation to the laboratory of Dr. Roland Baron at Yale University School of Medicine and later at Harvard University Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine in 2008 as Junior Faculty until 2011. In 2011, he was awarded a prestigious Heisenberg-Professorship of the German Research Foundation at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in Germany, where he founded the Molecular Skeletal Biology laboratory and established a clinical unit for metabolic bone diseases as attending physician. In 2019, Dr. Hesse was recruited by the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich as founding Director and endowed Chair of the Institute of Molecular Musculoskeletal Research, where he is implementing a clinical unit for metabolic- and rare bone diseases. Dr. Hesse is co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Sirana Pharma.
