Anton McCaffrey, PhDSenior Director of Emerging Science & Innovation at TriLink BioTechnologies, Inc.
Dr. Anton McCaffrey has worked in the area of nucleic acid therapeutics for the last 30 years, both in academics and industry. Dr. McCaffrey has worked with and published on most major nucleic acid modalities including antisense, ribozymes, aptamers, RNA interference and genome editing. Most recently he has focused on the exciting new area of messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutics. He published an early work on mRNA delivery to mammals in 2002. He is currently the Senior Director of Emerging Science and Innovation at TriLink BioTechnologies where he established a group producing mRNA at multi-gram scales for research applications and cGMP syntheses for clinical applications. Dr. McCaffrey received a bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology from UC San Diego, a PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Colorado, Boulder and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford Medical School. For many years he was a faculty member at the University of Iowa School of Medicine and retains an adjunct appointment in Internal Medicine.
