Christopher Gabriel, Ph.D.
Senior Scientist, Process Organic Chemistry at Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc.


Chris is an Associate Director in the Process Organic Chemistry group at Ionis Pharmaceuticals in Carlsbad, California. His roles include process development for solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis and oligonucleotide conjugation, purification research, investigation of raw material and process-related impurities, as well as designing and optimizing supply chain processes.

Chris obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of California, Santa Barbara. Working in Bruce Lipshutz’s research group, Chris focused on methodologies utilizing aqueous micellar catalysis for several organic transformations including peptide coupling and transition metal catalyzed reductions of alkynes and aryl-nitro compounds. Chris obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from University of California, San Diego while working for professor Thomas Hermann.
