Marilyn feels fortunate to lead the talented researchers that are part of Vanguard’s Research team, the best company in the world to work for. Vanguard is one of the world's largest investment companies, offering a large selection of low-cost mutual funds, ETFs, advice, and related services. They managing over $7.5 trillion with 440 low-cost mutual funds and ETFs
She leads a team of researchers who employ the latest techniques to gauge prospect or client feedback to help inform business strategies. She is a true brand advocate and focusses on marketing measurement and ensuring Vanguard infuses a client/external perspective in everything we do.
Prior to this role, she ran the User Experience research team where she developed her passion for all things digital and obtained her Certified Usability analyst certification. Her 1st 10 years at Vanguard, she headed up the centralized advertising team, where she developed Vanguard’s first national branding initiative, focused on increasing awareness. The radio campaign won the Financial Communications Society’s annual Portfolio award in the “Corporate Image—Radio” category, while the print campaign was described as the ”the most powerful and motivating a sales message as you’ll find in the world of wealth-building today” by Entrepreneur magazine. She also developed the Vanguard ETF "V" campaign, which won the Gold award at Financial Communications Society. As an early adopter, her leadership in the search marketing arena was highlighted in Business week back in January of 2006.
Prior to joining Vanguard, Marilyn was in the publishing industry, where she was the Director of Marketing Services and Newsstand Circulation for TV Guide. Marilyn also has extensive retail Marketing and Advertising experience, having led internal advertising groups for Today’s Man, Caldor and Macy’s. She received her BA in Business and Psychology from Rutgers University and her MBA from St. Joseph’s University.
