Salima Fajal
Chief Legal & Compliance Officer at Kin Group

Profile

I am a dual national; I am a qualified lawyer working in the Financial Services industry, having previously practiced in Paris and currently working in London. My career has focused on Alternative Investments, mainly Private Equity, and Venture Capital. In 2020, I was nominated and shortlisted Compliance Lawyer of the year by C5 award.

I previously worked at Vistra, Campbell Lutyens, Apex Group, and Natixis. I have 15 years of legal and compliance experience, business development, and client services at the board and international level.

I am commercially astute with a proven track record of advising businesses, implementing new business processes, and liaising closely with the regulators and C-suite level executives. Strategic and focused, I demonstrate multi-country expertise. I am pragmatic and always willing to take new challenges on board. I am regularly invited to conferences, talks or to publish articles to share my views on legal, regulatory and ESG topics.

I am a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments, a member of the Franco British Lawyer Society, and the International Bar Association.I hold a master's in Business Law from Paris Dauphine University and graduated from the Paris Bar School (Ecole du Barreau de Paris).

I am currently reading for an Executive MBA at London Business School, where I am the recipient of the "Diversity in Leadership" Award. I am an advocate of meritocracy regardless of gender, which is a topic close to my heart.

Outside of work, I reside in London (but I do enjoy travelling!) and I love making long-lasting memories with my family, which comprises my husband and two children (rather naughty!).
In my spare time, I put my time to good use by being involved in different charitable activities such as building wells in India or volunteering with my children for early development research with Birkbeck and UCL university lab. I am an enthusiastic but inexperienced baker, hoping to make it to the Great British Bake-off competition one day.
