Shika oversees legal, company secretarial and governance activities covering the EMEA region for Principal Global Investors. Principal is a global asset manager with over $500 billion under management, invested across all major asset classes.
Prior to joining Principal, Shika spent seven years with Royal London Asset Management. During her time there, RLAM grew its AUM from £40 billion to over £100 billion and significantly expanded its funds and investment capabilities. Part of Shika’s role was to oversee the acquisition and integration of The Co-Operative Asset Management for RLAM.
Shika spent eight years in private practice working on both sides of the Atlantic, including a period in New York within the corporate finance team of Katten Muchin Rosenman. She also worked in the dynamic corporate department of Mishcon de Reya, where she played an integral part in a wide variety of transactions including: Mergers and Acquisitions, Fund Formations, Private Equity and Listings on the LSE, Euronext and AIM markets for prestigious buy-side, corporate and entrepreneurial clients.
An Alumnus of City University where she gained a Law LLB(Hons) degree, Shika remains a Member of the New York State Bar and more recently she successfully completed the CFA’s Investment Management Certificate (1). Shika sits on the Legal Committee at the Investment Association, has Chaired the IA IMA Working Group and contributes to panel discussions, and articles about a variety of topics affecting the investment and funds management sector.
