Profile
Dan Rawling is a Director in the Policy & International team at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Dan has worked in competition law, consumer protection and economic regulation since 2006. At the Office of Fair Trading, he worked on a variety of competition and consumer investigations and market studies. Dan led the investigations of MasterCard and Visa’s UK interchange fee arrangements during the UK Government’s intervention in support of the European Commission before the General Court. Subsequently, Dan was involved in establishing and operationalising the Payment Systems Regulator – the world’s first dedicated economic regulator of payment systems – where he was a Senior Associate from 2014 to 2018. Dan also spent a year at the Bank of England as a Policy Manager working on the financial stability supervision of market infrastructure. Since 2018, Dan has been involved in cross-cutting CMA policy projects, including working with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on the review of the competition regime.
