Sara BacchioCase Handler, DG Competition at European Commission
Sara Bacchio is a "case handler" in the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission (DG COMP) where she works as a case handler in the antitrust unit dealing with telecoms. Before that, she worked in the antitrust unit dealing with e-commerce. Prior to joining the European Commission, she worked as an associate in the competition law teams of two leading international law firms in Brussels. During the course of her carrier, Sara advised clients on all aspects of competition law, including merger control, cartel investigations and behavioral matters across a large number of industries before the European Commission and other authorities. Sara has also spent time at the Italian Competition Authority and as in-house antitrust counsel at a multinational pharmaceutical company, based in Basel.
Sara is a qualified lawyer in Italy. She studied law at the Sapienza University of Rome and she holds a Master's Degree in EU Law from the College of Europe in Bruges.
