Profile
Phaedra is Smiths Detection Global Service Training Director and is an expert in the leadership of all aspects of Training. She has over 20 years’ experience in managing complex behavioural change programmes across Defence, Security, Commercial Shipping and Manufacturing.
Before Phaedra’s commercial career began, she spent 17 years in the Royal Navy as an Officer of the Watch and Training Manager and holds the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy Reserves. In her last few roles, she was the senior HQ advisor on training and education assurance and was visiting President of the Admiralty Interview Board which is the leadership assessment process for all officer applicants for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
A keen interest in future global skills requirements, Human Autonomy Teaming and the 4th Industrial Revolution she holds various voluntary roles outside of Smiths. These include Chairman of Solent Maritime Enterprise Zone - Skills and Apprenticeship Working Group; Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) Maritime Autonomous Surface Shipping Special Interest Group and she has spoken at several conferences on AI, Human Augmentation and Human Optimisation.
