Elisabeth Lacoste is an agro-economist, she obtained a Master’s degree in agronomy from the “Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon (AgroParisTech, France)” and a Doctorate in industrial economics from “Mines ParisTech” (France). After experience as a researcher, specialising in agricultural policy and market regulations, she worked for a sugar company in North Germany and as a consultant on world agricultural commodities markets in France. In charge of sugar and ethanol world markets analysis, she has been a member of the “Cyclope team” in France for ten years, a study group specialized in the analysis of global raw materials and commodities markets and which issues the Cyclope Yearbook on commodities markets every year since 1986.
Since 2006 she has been Director of the International Confederation of European Beet Growers (CIBE) based in Brussels, Belgium. CIBE defends an represents the interest of 140,000 sugar beet growers in Europe, as well as beet growers in Switzerland and Turkey
