Beat The Cyberbully - Cybersafety UAE

The Beat The Cyberbully (BTCB) initiative is the brain child of Wayne Denner - youth & digital communicator and has been brought to the UAE by Digital Marketing Strategist Barry Lee Cummings. With a combined 18+ years in the digital industry, the pair spotted an ever widening gap between children, their parents and teachers as digital platforms become a bigger part of our lives.

 The reality we currently face is that our children are digital natives and most people over the age of 30 are actually digital dinosaurs trying to get to grips with platforms that change on a daily basis. As a result, there are many cases of parents or teachers reacting to children's questions with the phrase ‘What exactly do you mean?’. And this initial reaction of answering their question with another question sows the seed with the child that you can’t help. If you as the parent can’t help and their teacher can’t help either. The child internalises the problem, hides it if you will and the downward spiral starts. The end of that spiral in the most tragic cases, is the loss of a life before it has even really begun. For us at BTCB, this is unacceptable.

What is Beat The Cyberbully?

It is a series of deliverables designed to increase awareness and education levels across children, parents, teachers and care givers. The subject matter covers Cyberbullying prevention, online reputation management and promoting positive online use.

We focus on the positive use of the channels and platforms out there rather than the negative elements of Cyberbullying. We are all too aware of the devastating effects Cyberbullying can have, not only on children but on adults in the workplace as well. Our initiative has been carefully designed and delivered in a manner that motivates and promotes the positive use of the amazing communication tools that are at our disposal on the internet.

We aim to bridge the communication gap by providing a range of the following;

  • 45min-1 hour inspirational & engaging talks.
  • Evening sessions for parents
  • 2 hour daytime sessions for teachers and care givers within schools
  • Full and 1/2 day workshops for parents, teachers, children and care givers that revolve around inspirational content and hands on material.
