Sebastian Palluk, Ph.D.Chief Technology Officer at Ansa BiotechnologiesSpeaker
Profile
Sebastian Palluk is a pioneer in enzymatic DNA synthesis who co-authored the first paper describing an enzymatic method for de novo DNA synthesis in Nature Biotechnology (2015). He co-founded Ansa Biotechnologies to commercialize the technology and serves as the company’s chief technology officer. Sebastian is named as a co-inventor on more than 10 patent families related to enzymatic DNA synthesis. Under his leadership, Ansa Biotechnologies has set new records for lengths of synthesized oligonucleotides, including a 1,005-base-long oligo the team reported in 2023. Sebastian was awarded his PhD from the Technical University of Darmstadt for the work he performed on polymerase-nucleotide conjugates at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He received a master's degree in biomolecular engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt.
