Profile

Duncan J. Fisher is the Chief Show Operations Officer at Cirque du Soleil, where he currently oversees the entire worldwide portfolio of the company’s touring and resident shows. He joined Cirque du Soleil in 2018 as Vice President of Touring Show Operations and was later promoted to his current executive role.

Before this role, Duncan was in the corporate event world and as Vice President of Operations for C2 Montreal, where he produced two editions of their world-renowned business conference, winning the BizBash Magazine award for Convention of the Year in 2017. In 2004, Duncan joined the Montreal based equestrian spectacular “Cavalia” as Operations Director and after 10 years with the company he had been promoted first to Tour Director and then Vice President of Operations and Executive Producer.

Duncan is from Leeds, England, where he attended Leeds Grammar School. A gymnast from 7 years of age, he was State Champion and a member of the Junior British team before deciding to become a professional acrobatic performer. After performing in theatres throughout the UK and Europe, he was signed to perform with a circus company in the United States and Canada, where he now lives.

At the age of only 24, Duncan made a major turn to his career when he decided to leave his performer role to focus on show management. He managed the operations for several different circus companies until 2001 when he created Powerplay Productions a company specializing in producing and directing major outdoor events, concerts and festivals. Amongst others, he produced the Inventing Flight Festival to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the invention of flight and in 2003 the highlight of his event career came when he was hired by the White House to produce the event for the Independence Day speech of President George W. Bush.
