Tal GoldsmithPartner at Wedlake Bell LLP
Tal is an insolvency and litigation lawyer; she specialises in all aspects of recovery of assets, often involving fraud and multi-jurisdictional interests and has specific expertise in recoveries by liquidators and trustees in bankruptcy. Tal also has significant experience in wider disputes matters including breach of contract, professional negligence (including professional negligence) and debt claims. Tal spent a number of years working in a market-leading insolvency practice and was also on secondment to the recoveries function of a clearing bank resulting in extensive on the ground knowledge of how contentious insolvency, recoveries and litigation management work from the client's perspective.
Using the full breadth of a litigator's tool kit (including worldwide freezing injunctions, search and seizure orders and indeed insolvency proceedings as a weapon), Tal's recent experience includes investigating, collating and pursuing claims in respect of void dispositions, voidable preferences, transactions at undervalue and transactions in fraud of creditors on behalf of insolvency practitioners; pursuing conspiracy to defraud and fraudulent trading claims against offshore companies involved in Missing Trader Intra Community (MTIC) VAT fraud on behalf of UK liquidators; bringing breach of duty claims against directors in relation to EBT arrangements and other disguised remuneration schemes; acting to uncover and recover the assets of a bankrupt billionaire; acting to "bust" fraudulent deeds of trust removing assets from insolvent estates; acting for a bankrupt in proceedings against trustees for abusing their powers; and acting on interim and substantive proceedings relating to a fraud concerning the acquisition of a UK company.
