Andreas (Andy) Frischknecht is a partner with Chaffetz Lindsey LLP, a New York-based boutique commercial disputes firm. He is a recognized award enforcement specialist (ranked Band 1 in Chambers USA for International Arbitration: Enforcement) and has led or co-led virtually all of the firm’s major engagements in this area. He co-authored the leading treatise on the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and judgments in New York and has opined as an expert in foreign proceedings on U.S. award enforcement issues.
More broadly, Andy has over 20 years of dispute resolution experience and has represented clients in international arbitrations under various institutional rules. He also has an active cross-border litigation practice, frequently acting on behalf of foreign clients in U.S. proceedings. Andy has dealt extensively with recurring issues in transnational disputes, including personal jurisdiction, foreign sovereign immunity, parallel proceedings, data privacy, and discovery in aid of foreign proceedings under 28 U.S.C. § 1782. Originally trained as a Swiss lawyer, Andy has a deep understanding of both the common and civil law systems and traditions. He obtained his initial law degree from the University of Bern, Switzerland, followed by an LL.M. degree from New York University Law School.
