Profile

Solymar Castillo Morales joined Goldman Antonetti & Cordova's Litigation and Trial Practice Department in 2010 and became a Capital Member in 2019. Before joining the firm, Mrs. Castillo worked as an Associate attorney for various law firms in San Juan and as Legal Advisor and Director of the Collections Bureau at the Puerto Rico Department of Treasury. In the Puerto Rico Treasury, among other things, she was in charge of determining the feasibility and compliance with the Internal Revenue Code of Puerto Rico and the established public policy and negotiating Closing Agreements presented by individual and corporate Tax Payers.

She has represented and advised numerous organizations and individuals on legal issues regarding Commercial, Tax and Bankruptcy Law, as well as other civil, commercial matters, mainly, Construction, and Contracts. She also worked as an independent investigator for the Ethics Commission of the Senate of Puerto Rico, analyzing compliance with ethics regulations in financial reports filed by lawmakers. As part of her work at Goldman, she has also represented creditors in dischargeability, fraudulent transfers, preference actions, super priority lending, cram-downs and valuation matters, Unsecured Creditors' Committees, Developers' claims on contractors' bankruptcy cases, and clients involved in matters related to Puerto Rico’s fiscal crisis, including under the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA), enacted on June 30, 2016. In addition to work with property tax claims in the administrative and local courts. She is also the coordinator of the Summer Law Clerk Program.

She is a co-author of the Chapter 7 Bankruptcies Statistics and Analysis of the Inside the Minds, Chapter 7 Consumer Bankruptcy Strategies, 2011 Edition for Aspatore Books; and, Best Practices for filing Chapter 13, 2015 Edition for Aspatore Books; and, has also acted as speaker for the American Bankruptcy Institute Winter Leadership Summit discussing Ethical Obligations In The Times Of Disasters, and Data Privacy and Security Issues, Protection of Sale Information, Virtual Data Rooms, and COVID orders affecting these processes; and for the CCPA as speaker for Business Restructuring in the Coronavirus seminar for the attorney- CPA audience. Speaker for IWIRC Puerto Rico Network and LATAM Network on Ethical concerns and Client Information Privacy in Times of Disasters.
