Alan Sage is a Vice President in the Urban Investment Group (UIG) within Goldman Sachs Asset Management. At UIG, he serves as East Coast regional lead and oversees the underwriting and structuring of equity and debt transactions to finance mixed-income, affordable, and commercial redevelopment projects across the U.S., in geographies such as New York, Detroit, North Carolina, and Washington, D.C. Across this career, Alan has overseen the deployment of over $5bn of impact-oriented equity and debt investments.
Alan holds a Master in City Planning degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he published Congressionally-recognized and Brookings-featured research on the federal Opportunity Zone redevelopment tax incentive program using advanced econometric techniques. He also holds a B.A. in Ethics, Politics and Economics from Yale University. Alan currently serves as a board member for Civic Builders, a not-for-profit lender to charter schools across the country.
