Jeff Kushan is a partner with Sidley Austin in Washington, D.C., where he heads the Firm's IP litigation group. Jeff has been litigating patent cases in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors for more than 25 years. His cases involve new drugs and biological products, radiopharmaceuticals, medical devices and many other technologies. He also represents clients on domestic and international patent policy matters. Before entering private practice, Jeff was one of the first biotech patent examiners at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also worked in the Office of the United States Trade Representative in Geneva, Switzerland, where he represented the U.S. in treaty negotiations and trade disputes involving intellectual property. Jeff earned his B.S. in chemistry from the College of William & Mary, his master's degree in protein chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his law degree from the George Washington University.
