Dr. Hart is a highly accomplished leader, innovator and scientist who has developed transformative, cutting-edge technologies throughout his career. In 2012, Dr. Hart founded LumaCyte, a revolutionary research, instrumentation, and diagnostics company. LumaCyte offers pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies an advanced label-free approach to single cell analysis, providing them a powerful new platform for the detection of changing cell phenotypes. Leading his team over a 12-year period of development at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), the core technologies underlying LumaCyte's products were born. As the original inventor of this novel analytical platform, Dr. Hart and his team have pioneered the scientific advances that have enabled Laser Force Cytology™. Dr. Hart has 50+ peer reviewed journal articles, numerous invited and contributed presentations, 13 patents issued + 94 pending in 27 countries, and has managed large research teams with multi-million-dollar budgets. Dr. Hart has extensive experience in a diverse range of research areas including virology, cell-based assays, biomanufacturing, spectroscopy, laser optical force trapping and separation, optical engineering, chromatography, chemical and biochemical separation. He has also worked extensively in multivariate statistical data analysis/calibration, artificial intelligence and machine learning which have opened the door to improved real-time bioprocess knowledge and production monitoring advancements. Dr. Hart received his PhD in Chemistry from Tufts University in 1998.
