Stephen Vinall earned his biology degree at Greenwich University, UK, before embarking on a four-decade career in terrestrial ecotoxicology testing. He began his professional journey in 1991 at the contract research organisation Mambo-Tox, where he progressed from technician to study director. His technical depth and leadership led to roles as senior study director and assistant manager, culminating in his appointment as general manager of Mambo-tox following the founder’s departure. Through successive mergers with Mambo-tox, IES and later i2L Research, Stephen expanded his impact, providing scientific oversight, regulatory expertise, and methodological innovation in terrestrial ecotoxicology for the full group. Today, he is recognised across the group as a subject-matter expert, guiding experimental design, ensuring compliance with OECD and GLP standards, and contributing to the advancement of best practices in terrestrial ecotoxicology testing and environmental risk assessment.
