John Mayers is the Client Assets Oversight Officer for HSBC Bank plc, a CASS Large Firm.

He joined HSBC in 2018 after 10 years at the Financial Conduct Authority (formerly the Financial Services Authority), where he worked predominantly in the CASS Department. During this time, John managed supervisory relationships with CASS large firms, led on-site firm visits, oversaw Section 166 skilled person reviews, and supported the orderly wind-down of firms.

John has also worked in the FCA’s Financial Stability team, contributing to market-wide stress testing, and in Retail Supervision, with a focus on board-level culture and conduct.
