Luke Patterson is an Advisory Partner at BDO and Head of Safeguarding, specialising in internal audit and regulatory advisory services for the Payments, Insurance and Pensions sectors. He has over 25 years’ experience delivering national and international engagements for financial services clients, with a particular focus on Payment Services and Electronic Money Institutions, and Insurance Firms.

Luke is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). He previously served as President of his local insurance chapter and is actively involved in developing BDO’s Payments and Insurance propositions.

He currently acts as Head of Internal Audit for a number of his clients and leads co‑sourced internal audit engagements for Payment Services and Insurance clients. Luke is recognised for his deep technical expertise in regulatory compliance, safeguarding frameworks, and the design and effectiveness of control environments.
