Competition in IRT/RTSM market driving development of innovative tech

Competition is driving innovation in the clinical trial technology sector, according to Perceptive eClinical, which says the industry is looking at how AI can be used to advance IRT and RTSM systems.
A Perceptive spokesperson told Clinical Insider, “The IRT/RTSM space is incredibly competitive. Providers are under pressure to support increasingly complex trials, offer additional solutions and/or services, increase their integration abilities, all while ensuring participants are best supported and data is captured correctly.
“There are a significant number of players within the RTSM/IRT space, but we know that other IRT providers aren’t the only competitive choice for sponsors, CROs and sites. We need to keep innovating and evolving to best support all needs and players in the market.”
AI is a good example. The spokesperson told us, “AI is a huge trend, and there is a lot of conversation and buzz about how it can be utilized in existing and future clinical trial systems and solutions.”
The spokesperson cited a survey of trial sector executives as an example, explaining that while respondents acknowledged the potential benefits of predictive AI, many were concerned that, without proper safeguards, the technology could introduce errors.
“As we move further into this time of AI. Perceptive is looking at how we best use this technology to support and develop not only for our customers, but our internal teams as well,” the spokesperson said, adding, “Digital transformation and AI are just as much a challenge as an opportunity for sponsors.”
The comments come weeks after the London, UK firm launched the latest iteration of its randomization and trial supply management (RTSM) system ClinPhone Pro.
The spokesperson told us the new technology “reflects the firm’s commitment to innovation and simplifying operations sponsors, CROs, and clinical sites.”
