Richard Burnley joined the EBU Legal Department as Senior Competition Counsel in 2010 from the Office of Communications (OFCOM) in the UK.
In 2012, he was appointed EBU Head of Regulatory Legal Services, in 2016 Director of Legal and then in 2018 Director of Legal and Policy, responsible for EBU regulatory positions and advocacy at the EU and national levels. Previously, Richard worked for several years as a competition lawyer in a leading international law firm in Brussels and London, as well as in the Merger Task Force of DG Competition, European Commission.
He is a qualified solicitor of England and Wales, holding an LLB from King's College, London University, an LLM from the Humboldt University of Berlin and a PhD in European competition law from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
