Eirikur Hauksson is currently the General Counsel of Síminn hf. (Iceland Telecom) a telecommunication and media company in Iceland. Eirikur joined Síminn in 2011 and took over the role of General Counsel in 2014. During his time at Síminn he has been involved in various cases relating to competition law regarding the telecommunication and media markets. Most recently the sale of Siminn´s subsidiary Míla, Iceland’s largest telecommunications infrastructure company that owns and operates a comprehensive network comprised of fixed broadband, mobile access and backhaul covering the entire country. The sale to Ardian, a world-leading private investment house, established in France, went through merger control clearance at Competition Authority as well as being subject to foreign investment screening by the Icelandic Government.
Prior to joining Síminn, Eirikur worked at LOGOS legal services a leading law firm in Iceland, whereby his main tasks related to competition law, as well as IP law rights. Eirikur holds a Cand. Jur. from the University of Iceland as well as MA in Economics for Competition Law from King's College London.
