Erik Hellners

General Counsel for MTR's Nordic operations and head of the legal affairs department of MTR Nordic Group since 2015. MTR is one of the leading global rail and public transport companies. I represent MTR as board member and vice president of the rail industry association, Allrail (Alliance of Rail New Entrants) in Brussels.

Prior to joining MTR, Erik was deputy head of the Swedish law firm Setterwalls’ EU & Competition Law practice group with 21 lawyers for five years. Before that Erik was eleven years as senior legal counsel at Scandinavia’s leading airline, SAS. At SAS I was responsible all legal aspects of joint ventures, cooperation with airline partners, competition law, marketing and sales, loyalty programmes etc.

During the 1990’s, he was senior associate with the US firm White & Case in their Stockholm office for four years. Prior to that was 3.5 years in Brussels with the leading boutique law firm Van Bael & Bellis, focusing on competition and trade law.
